  • May. 30th, 2008 at 9:53 AM

Got this note reminding us that you had a birthday on June 1st.  We did remember since we were there too but hope you have a good day.  At least it's on a Sunday where you don't have to go to work and can do what you want,.  We will try to call you sometime during the day.

Total Chaos

  • Mar. 19th, 2008 at 10:05 AM

Well, we have been living in total chaos all week.  On Monday, Bob put down the cement that will be under the Travertine Tile and it had to set for a good 24 hours before he could lay the tile.  So that meant for Monday evening and most of yesterday we had to live in the bedroom or computer room.  Razi thinks it's the pits and wants to run - just anywhere, so she doesn't have to be cooped up.  Today he's here putting tile down but it will be a long process so it might take him two days.  Then it all has to be grouted and sealed and then all the appliances put back.  We may be another weekend it a mess.

During all this chaos, I came down with a cold.  I haven't had one for a long time, pretty much staying away from those germs, but guess I;ve just been around too many people lately that have had colds.  Missed class yesterday and probably will not go tomorrow either.  It's hard to do much when the house is in such a mess.

We'll be running out of food before long since we didn't do any shopping this week.  May have to eat out, oh darn.  But in all this chaos, I did get the taxes finalized.  I had them mostly done but needed to do through them once more.    Luckily this year we don;t have to pay much, guess that 's because we're retired and don't make much money anymore.

Have a great day!

Kitchen chaos revisited

  • Mar. 17th, 2008 at 9:57 AM

Well this week will be very interesting.  Bob is going to start on the floor today having done the back splashes on Saturday.  He doesn't have the grout in yet but that probably won't take long once he does the floor.  Looks cool!   We probably won't be able to do much in the kitchen once he starts on the floor so we'll go to Sue's house to eat.  We have to go and take care of the kitties anyway so will take our leftover pasta and eat there so we can use her microwave and stove.

I'm hoping he'll have the floor on the way in a couple of days so we can get the house back in some kind of order.  Right now it's pretty messy.  Haven't had this much of a mess since we moved in.

Well our Badgers won the Big Ten tournament and are on their way to the NCAA.  Hope they do well there.    Go Badgers

Will let you know how the kitchen goes tomorrow.

Should have back splashes by end of today

  • Mar. 14th, 2008 at 9:29 AM

Bob called early and will be here this aft. to put in the tile for back splashes.  So i need to get busy and get the counters cleaned off for him.

The weather has turned rainy and chilly but it makes the flowers grow.  Sue will have daffodils in a couple of days.  She's in Ohio and won't be able to enjoy them but we will when we take care of the kitties.

Big Ten Tournament is starting today so hope you are all routing for Wisconsin.

Have a great day

No kitchen remodel yet this week

  • Mar. 12th, 2008 at 9:55 AM

Haven't heard from Tile Bob Kelly so nothing has been done in the kitchen.  No doubt he is finishing up his other projects before he gets to us.  I just need to be patient.

Went to a Homeowner's meeting last eveing for our Subdivision.  We haven't attended many of the meetings but there are a few issues with our sub that we thought it might be interesting to go.  At the moment there is the President of the Homeowners, and no board members so Phil may put his name in the mix.  One of the issues is that all of us have been assessed over $1,000 due to the fact that the City of Eagle bought our current water company ( which was privately owned) and now needs to make 7 million dollars of improvements so we are supposed to pay folr it.  There is a meeting next week that we all need to attend to find out the real skinny.

Weather is getting nicer, and theres so much to do outside.  But I have to take things slow pretty much doing one project a day and then resting.  Would like to see the kitchen done so I could get things back in order.  They are still working on the house next door - we had one of the Subs make us a long, low table to put in front of the windows for magazines and plants.  Looks really nice with the pineapple plantation there.

Have a good day everyone.

Flowers
By
Razi
Winter flowers are peeping up all over. They must be winter because the equinox won’t be here for over a week. Sister Sue has crocus. Mom has her mums shooting little green leaves up. The grass gets greener in Timer’s pasture everyday. Phil is already cutting him back on hay. Timer gets fat real easily.
Everyday I help the humans clean Timer’s pasture. Phil pushes the wheelbarrow full of Timer apples and loads more in at each pile. I run from one corner to the next keeping the birds from getting in the way. When I sense one, I throw a point at it. Phil gets all thrilled when I do my classic with my front paw tucked up under my chest. Mom supervises after filling the water tank. When we finish the pasture, Mom and I walk the perimeter usually twice while Timer gives Phil a ride around a few times and then up and down the long way with turns, circles, diamonds and other shapes. I don’t know what that’s about. Then I give Timer a kiss!

Back to Work
Trail Ride and Drill
By
Timer
Well my well deserved winter holiday is over. The snow’s gone so I can eat the nice green grass shoots in my pasture along with my hay and vitamins but Phil puts me to work most days. Let me tell you what all those circles and diamonds Razi’s confused about are; drill! I’ve been suspicious for a couple of weeks now. After we do a clockwise lap and counter clockwise lap, suddenly were going back a forth with circles and turns pushed in on each pass. That can only mean Southern Comfort Drill and the horses provide the comfort to the humans. Mostly! A week ago today (Saturday), I got out of going because it was raining but the humans all went down to Chocolate’s new hay barn and learned this year’s work for horses.
Thursday Phil came out alone in his diminutive red Miata, making me suspicious. He called me in, groomed me and put on my saddle and we were off on our first trail ride. We met Rudy, Chamois, and Linda on the canal road, crossed the dry canal, and went over the ridge. It was nice and cool so I felt really good. Just before the short cut back to my pasture, I crow hopped a little and tried to cut off Rudy to make sure Phil was awake. He was. It was my little protest over being put back to work so early in the year.  The ride was short by Rudy and my standards, but the first ride is out of the way.
I was really happy when it started raining this morning (Saturday) but no luck. When Phil shows up with Razi’s big red Chevy truck and backs it up to my trailer that means work for me so I took off for the other side of my pasture. Sure enough, the humans hooked up and Phil calls’ “Come here buddy. Now I have a dilemma for my walnut sized brain. Do I go down get loaded and go to work or make the human come and get me. I know I’m going to work either way and that he has my treat in my pocket so I amble down to him—but not too fast. Horses have to be careful about spoiling their humans.
We went to Little Feather Ranch in the rain. I got excited to see all my drill buddies and could wait to get into the indoor arena. There were nine equines warming up. I know most of the drill since it’s like last years and we’ll get the humans trained to give us the right cues in a couple of more weeks. After the first run through with stops and starts to teach the humans we went outside to rest. Our Idaho sun had chased the rain clouds away and we rested in the sun before two or three more drills. Then I got to go the two miles home.

Rainy Saturday again

  • Mar. 8th, 2008 at 10:19 AM

It's raining again today, but the club is having practice.  They are getting ready with their drill for the Horse Expo in April and can't afford to not practice.  This is the first time with horses and they have to get the big guys back in the saddle of drilling after a winter off.  Razi and I are staying in where it's warm and dry.  This rainy weather makes every bone in my body ache.  It's supposed to clear up this afternoon but we will be watching the last Wisconsin game.  If they win, they will have the Big Ten Conferencer title all to themselves.  We've become those crazy Wisconsin fans that you see on TV.

My kitchen now has the sink and faucet hooked up so we can do dishes there nstead of the laundry sink.  It appears that it might be a week yet before Bob rips out the floor to put down the Travertine.  He still has one more project to finish and then he can concentrate on ours before he takes his 2 week medical leave from work.  I would be most happy if he could install the back splashes and the floor could wait if needed.  We are getting used to granite countertops, they still look cool.  When the back splashes are in we'll take more pictures to show you.

I need to concentrate on doing taxes the next few weeks.  I always put it off until March, because I hate doing them.  Oh well, they will get done in due time.

Wishing everyone a good weekend.

Kitchen remodel day 4

  • Mar. 6th, 2008 at 3:47 PM

I might have a sink today if Bob can get it rehooked up with the new sink and faucet.  My dishwasher is getting mighty full and if it doesn't get up and running we will have to wash dishes in the laundry sink.  Once this is done we will have to wait until we're on the top of his list to do the backsplashes and floor.  Hopefully that will be next week.

Went back to the Y water class today and I'm sore now but expected to be.  The class said they missed me, it's the first class I've missed since starting in Sept.  I was glad I went.  Morgan, one of the teachers, had a baby about 4 weeks ago and she brought Braden in to see us.  He's a doll, of course.  I don't think Morgan has MS but she helps the other teacher, Sharon with the class.  Sharon does have MS.

Today when I was watering my plants, I discovered a pineapple on our one pineapple plant.  We've been growing them for about 3 years, since we went to Hawaii the first time.  What a surprise!   It's cool, but i don't know if it'll ever get big enough to be a real pineapple.  Right now, it's tiny and has lovely purple blossoms on it.  We just had a table made for our plants in the great room so we can show off the pineapple.

Phil and Linda went riding horses today for the first time this year.  The weather  is actually getting warm and the grass is getting green.  Sue's crocuses are out and the daffodils will be out by Easter.

That's all for now.  Hope all is well with you and yours.

Kitchen remodel day 3

  • Mar. 5th, 2008 at 9:47 AM

Well, we have countertops.  They are cool but it's going to take a bit of time to get used to them.  Setting something on granite is not like setting it on formica.

Yesterday we took a ride over to Meridian, to see a house that our tile installer, Bob, was doing.  He was putting in the same tile we have picked out for the floor and backsplashes.  I think he wanted us to see the kind of job he does.  He keeps telling us that we will get the best when we have him put in our tile.  I guess it's good to be that confident.  On the other hand, we can see that he will do a great job, but it looks like it will have to wait until he gets two other jobs done.  At the end of the month he will be out for two weeks with health issues so it may not get done before that.  If he just gets the sink put back together, we'll be happy.

Feel pretty achy from not going to the Y water class but if I had gone, I would feel that way too.  So it's a catch 22.  Hope to go back tomorrow .

Hope everything is fine with you.

The granite is in!!!

  • Mar. 4th, 2008 at 1:45 PM

It took a bit more than three hours but the counters are in. Not without a few glitches but we should be able to fix them somehow.  Now we need to have the tile guy come to start on the back splashes and floor.  More chaos.

We'll post pictures if we can to show you Venezia.
